Answers

Answer 1

The best answers for me, the best geographic features that encourage movement would be Plains and Mountains.

Plains is a type of geographical form, wherein you could see a land flat area. Plains are great location for fields, trees, crops and domesticated animals. Since the area doesn't have much obstacles rather than trees and animals and maybe some rocks, people can easily manipulate movement in any form to this area.

Meanwhile mountains can be a good choice for movements as well. Mountains are type of geographical form, which is often huge and located above the grounds. The elevation of it's form are mostly in meters and feet high. Mountains are normally has limited scope and can support wildlife and forest lives. Movement can be facilitated on mountains. But it is much slower compared to plains, since there are more hindrance on it (like trees, huge rocks and animals).

For a fixed-rate loan, the interest rate remains the same throughout the life of the loan. For a variable-rate loan, the interest rate changes based on the time of year.

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

Loan rates are classified into two types: Fixed and Variable. In Fixed loan rates the interest rate prevails the same throughout the loan's life. Variable loan rates are also called floating loan rates. This interest rate will oscillate based on the outstanding balance as well as market rates.

These rates will be changed periodically like monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annual basis. Comparing to the fixed rate, it is harder to estimate the interest rate for the borrowers. It can be increased or even decreased based on the loan's life.

Why would the US want to leave Vietnam rather than securing total victory ?

Answers

Answer:

By the late 1960s, US political and military leaders got convinced they could not win the war by any means. The war would extend indefinitely - an unacceptable option - and the Communist North Vietnamese were determined to resist as long as it was necessary, despite the horrendous suffering and destruction; actually this is what the Vietnamese have done throughout their history against foreign occupiers since ancient times.  The exorbitant financial cost of the war was also a major headache for the government.  And there were the rising numbers of American casualties, a fact that was politically negative. Another major factor was the powerful peace movement in the USA, many people were opposed to the continuation of the war, social support for US involvement in Southeast Asia wasn´t strong. The US could not win that war.

how did the destruction of the buffalo impact native american culture

Answers

The buffalo destruction deteriorated the Native American culture because the basis around which their culture revolved was no more.

Explanation:

The Native Americans from the Great Plains region had deep connection, and were heavily dependent on the buffalo. The buffalo was crucial for these societies, as it was an animal that supplied them with food, but also with material for making clothes, dwellings, weapons, decorations etc. This heavily influenced the culture of the Native Americans from this region, the way they lived, their beliefs, practicing sustainability...

The European settlers though systematically destroyed the buffalo herds, and this wild animal almost went extinct. The Native Americans were left without their basic mean for living, as well as the mean around their way of live, thus culture revolved. The end result has been large scale abandoning of the culture, or rather change of it, because it was impossible to continue with the same lifestyle.

Other things that had similar influence on the Native American cultures were:

Final answer:

The destruction of buffalo critically impacted Native American culture by undermining their food sources, cultural practices, and overall way of life, leading to profound social, economic, and ecological disruptions.

Explanation:

The destruction of the buffalo had profound impacts on Native American culture, touching every aspect of life for the indigenous peoples of the Great Plains. The buffalo was central not only as a direct source of food, clothing, and materials but also held significant cultural and spiritual importance.

The near extinction of the buffalo due to overhunting and deliberate extermination efforts in the 19th century led to the deterioration of prairie ecosystems, endangered the health and wellbeing of many Native American communities, and significantly disrupted their traditional ways of life.

The loss of the buffalo catalyzed a shift in the economy and social organization of societies, such as the Lakota. Women's roles and their social and political status were affected due to changes in resource provisioning. Furthermore, increased competition for remaining resources led to more frequent warfare between Plains societies.

This environmental and societal upheaval was compounded by broader forces of colonization, which aimed at assimilating Native American peoples and eradicating their cultures, through practices like the establishment of American Indian boarding schools.

The destruction of the buffalo is emblematic of the wider processes of colonization and environmental exploitation that have historically marginalized and inflicted violence upon indigenous peoples. It serves as a powerful example of how the colonization machinery worked not only through direct conflict but also through undermining the ecological foundations of indigenous societies.

Identify the causes and effects of the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment. Drag and drop each cause and effect into the appropriate category.

Answers

Final answer:

The Nineteenth Amendment, that granted women the right to vote, was passed due to persistent advocacy by suffragists during the Progressive Era and women's contributions to World War I. It exponentially expanded democracy by allowing women to vote, but also marked the end of the progressive movements and led to decreased voter participation in the 1920s.

Explanation:

The passage of the Nineteenth Amendment was instigated by various factors. It was heavily driven by the persistent efforts of women's rights leaders like Susan B. Anthony, and Ida B. Wells. The push for the amendment gained momentum during the Progressive Era, a time when women were increasingly working outside their homes and pursuing higher education. This period witnessed staunch advocacy for voting rights for women.

Furthermore, the role of women during World War I bolstered the suffrage movement, presenting a strong argument that women, who were serving their nation, deserved the right to vote. For example, Tennessee passed the amendment in response to such appeals. The last necessary push came from Harry Burn, a young representative who unexpectedly changed his vote under his mother's counsel, thereby ensuring the passage of the amendment.

In terms of effects, the Nineteenth Amendment significantly expanded democracy by prohibiting denial of the right to vote based on sex. This alter enabled women across America to vote in the 1920 presidential election. However, the amendment's passage concurrently marked the decline of the Progressive Era and led to a dip in voter participation in the subsequent years. Once the Nineteenth Amendment was passed, many women withdrew from the movement, presuming they had achieved their objective.

extensive black migration to the
North

decline of trade unions

a loosening of controls on
freedom of speech

reduction of the number of
women in the workplace

Answers

Answer:

Extensive black migration to the North

Explanation:

From 1916-1970, 6 million African Americans migrated from the Southern states to the North, mostly for social reasons (escape from racial hatred, evade Jim Crow laws, meet up with black communities in the North) and economic opportunities (more factory jobs).  This is known as The Great Migration.

The other answers can be eliminated since (and I'm not 100% sure about this one, but assume that) the huge increase in factory workers for the war effort in World War 1 meant that trade unions became more appealing to workers so they could negotiate wages and benefits with industry managers.  After all, the purpose of a trade union is to protect the interests and rights of the workers, so trade unions likely did not decline.

"Loosing of controls on freedom of speech" is incorrect because of the Espionage Act of 1917, where the government could imprison you for disagreeing with them, like when Socialist Party leader Eugene Debs was sentenced to 10 years for saying the wrong things.

And for the last answer: the number of women in the workplace EXPLODED after the U.S. entrance into WWI; since so many men were sent to Europe, someone had to take their place at work, especially in factories that contributed ammo and other supplies for the war effort.

judge begay has been a magistrate for many years what mist happen for him to continue to sit in the bench

Answers

Final answer:

Judge Begay can continue to sit on the bench by maintaining good behavior and meeting any specific requirements for his judicial position, such as election or appointment terms, education requirements, or ethical standards like recusal in cases of conflict of interest.

Explanation:

To ensure Judge Begay can continue to sit on the bench, several factors need to be considered. According to the plan of the convention, judges in the United States are required to maintain good behavior for the continuity of their office. This principle is widely accepted and is seen as essential to an independent judiciary. Additionally, judges must uphold certain ethical standards, such as recusing themselves in cases of personal conflict of interest, to maintain the impartiality and legitimacy of the court system.

For judges serving in specific courts, there are often particular requirements they must meet. For instance, in California, superior court judges are elected for a six-year term, and a candidate must have been an attorney for at least ten years. In some states, judges are elected by voters, while in others, like Massachusetts, they are appointed by the governor with a lifetime appointment, subject to a mandatory retirement age. Moreover, some judges, such as Justices of the Peace, must complete a certain amount of educational coursework to remain qualified.

The continued service of a judge on the bench depends on both adherence to behavioral standards that secure upright judicial conduct and meeting the legal prerequisites for the position they hold, be it through appointment or election, as these are central to preserving an effective and respected judiciary.

In contrast, the fact that Zimbabwe has a declining economy and that regional trade has been reduced are verifiable facts.

Explanation:

When assessing the passage by Walter H. Kansteiner III for statements of opinion rather than fact, we should look for subjective assessments and conclusions that may not be directly verifiable. The statements that represent opinions include "Zimbabwe is to blame for the regional problems found in southern Africa," "Government policies and actions are mostly to blame for the food shortage," and "US efforts to promote stability have been seriously undermined by the government." These statements imply a causal relationship or a judgment of blame which is subjective and goes beyond presenting a straightforward fact.

On the other hand, statements like "Zimbabwe has a declining economy" and "Trade in the region has been reduced" present verifiable facts that can be determined through economic data and trade statistics, respectively. Therefore, these statements are factual rather than an opinion.

C. Diseases are able to travel across the globe more quickly than

ever before.

Explanation:

The process of globalization has created a threat to world health in several ways, and one of the most significant is the increased speed at which diseases can spread across the globe. Hence option C is correct.

How has the process of globalization created a threat to world health?

As people and goods move more freely between countries, so do the pathogens that cause diseases, which can rapidly become global pandemics. Examples of this include the 2003 SARS outbreak and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which have affected millions of people worldwide.

In addition, the pursuit of free trade and profit has resulted in some companies investing less in healthcare services, which can limit access to crucial medical treatments and services, particularly in developing countries.

Additionally, some intergovernmental organizations have diverted healthcare funds to other projects, leaving healthcare systems in some areas underfunded and unable to cope with the challenges of global health threats.

Furthermore, globalization has led to changes in lifestyle, such as increased consumption of unhealthy foods, which has contributed to the rise of non-communicable diseases, such as obesity and diabetes, which are major global health challenges.

Overall, while globalization has brought many benefits, it has also created challenges for world health that must be addressed through international cooperation and investment in healthcare systems.

Marco Polo's book became popular and contributed to his fame, helping to spread knowledge of Yuan China among literate Europeans.

Explanation:

Marco Polo and Rustichello were in prison because they were collaborators on a book titled The Travels of Marco Polo. Marco Polo, a Venetian merchant-adventurer, and Rustichello of Pisa, a popular romances writer, wrote the book while they were imprisoned in a Genoese prison. The book, composed around 1298, described Marco Polo's travels to the far East and the court of Kublai Khan, reporting on various aspects of Chinese civilization.

During their travels, Marco Polo recounted stories of the wonders he had seen in East Asia, including innovations like paper money, coal, and Chinese pasta. He became an official at Kublai Khan's court and learned multiple languages, traveling to lands that Europeans had not previously visited. When Marco Polo and his family returned to Venice, they shared his adventures and stories, which contributed to his fame.

Marco Polo's book helped to popularize knowledge of Yuan China among literate Europeans. While Marco Polo and Rustichello were notable among the Europeans who spent time in Mongol lands, many Muslim traders and bureaucrats also wrote accounts of their experiences. Despite their administrative roles, these bureaucrats did not often form connections with the population and were unlikely to challenge imperial authority.

The Czar Nicholas II underestimated the significance of the workers riots in Petrograd (Saint Petersburg) and the Duma established a provisional government, to take the place of the Czar.

Explanation:

The Russian Revolution came as the army was still fighting WWI and through one of the coldest winters. There were food and fuel shortages and economic strife as there was high inflation due to the costly war. The revolution started through work protests and the parliament (Duma) disobeying Nicolas II. The parliament decided to replace the Czar and asked for his surrender. Central to organizing the workers protests were the Bolsheviks (“Ones of the Majority”) who were led by Lenin.

The provisional government after the abdication of the Czar changed a number of times in the chaos following the March Revolution before Alexander Kerensky became the leader of the Provisional Government. But in October 1917, the Bolsheviks and Left Socialist-Revolutionaries staged a coup and occupied strategic points. Kerensky as the provisional government leader tried to resist the Bolsheviks and Left Socialist-Revolutionaries but ultimately had to flee the country.  The Romanov family had been captives since the abdication and they were killed where they were under house arrest by Yakov Yurovsky and his men, who was head of the Bolshevik secret police in 1918.
