Answers

Ocean currents act like large rivers in the Earth's oceans and help spread Earth's heat and shape climates.

Hope this helps,

Davinia.

ANSWER:

Ocean currents act as large rivers in the Earth's oceans and spread Earth's heat and thereby bring about climatic changes.

EXPLANATION:

Ocean currents act more like conveyor belts transporting warm air and water from the equator towards the poles. The ocean currents carry heat of the earth across the earth thereby bringing about climatic changes. The place to which ocean currents carry warm air and water experiences warm temperature and vice versa.

Identify one example of how your beliefs, behaviors, or practices have changed as you have applied them to new situations. How did a move, a new challenge, or a new influence change you as a person?

Answers

It can change you as a person because you can do something new and it effects your behavior

Answer:

An example of how my beliefs, behaviors and practices have changed by applying them to new situations is the relationship I have with some foods.

I grew up with the belief that milk is a very nutritious food because it provides the calcium necessary to have strong bones and teeth. For this reason I learned that I should include this food every day in my diet. The commercials I saw on television and school books reinforced this belief. Over time I saw that my parents did not feel well when drinking milk since they began to feel bad when ingesting this food. The same thing started to happen to me.

At that time our behavior began to change because to avoid the negative symptoms we experience in our bodies we stopped drinking milk. We consult health experts and they said we didn't have good lactose tolerance. Another change in our behavior was that we started buying and drinking lactose-free milk. At that time I wondered if lactose-free milk fed in the same way and discovered that most of the milks that are for sale in the supermarket have gone through pasteurization processes that make them lose a lot of their nutrients. I was still worried because the negative symptoms in our bodies decreased but did not disappear.

My eating practice changed completely at the moment we decided not to consume animal milk or its derivatives. We begin a research process to know the properties of other foods and find different sources of calcium.

This movement and change transformed me as a person because I understood that it is true that we are what we eat. This situation also sensitized me to understand that we should not only look at what we eat but in the process behind. Today I am a more sensitive person in what has to do with animal abuse.

Which of the following describes what would have happened to Jupiter if it were 80 times larger?
A) it would be unstable to rotate?
B) it would become a sun?
C) it would become a star?
D) it would become a supernova?

Answers

What would happen if Jupiter was 80 times larger?

The answer is: C) it would become a star, assuming of course its mass grows as well by a factor of 80, not just it's volume.

It would become a red dwarf star in fact.

It would still rotate (as our Sun does), although it's not the same way as our Earth rotates, because movements of gases are different than movement of solid masses.

it wouldn't become a sun because its temperature wouldn't be warm enough.

It wouldn't become a supernova, because that's basically a dying star... a 80-times larger Jupiter would become a new star, not a dying one.

Answer:

It would become a star.

Which statements describe S waves? Check all that apply.

They move side to side.
They arrive after P waves.
They travel through solids.
They travel through liquids.
They occur at Earth’s surface.

Answers

They arrive after P waves

I guess so

Answer: S waves description include the following statement: THEY MOVE SIDE TO SIDE, THEY ARRIVE AFTER P WAVES, THEY TRAVEL THROUGH SOLIDS.

Explanation: -S wave moves side to side because its motion/oscillation is perpendicular to the direction of the wave propagation. This type of wave is known as TRANSVERSE WAVE.

-S wave arrives after P wave because they are slower; P wave speed is about 6.8km per second while S wave speed is about 3.8km per second.

Again, S wave energy is not easily transmitted through the medium it's moving compared to P wave because it's wave motion is TRANSVERSE WAVE which can also be called SHEAR WAVE.

S wave, therefore, is the second wave you feel during an earthquake.

-S wave travels through solid rocks because rocks have shear strength/rigidity. Shear strength holds rocks together and allows them to resist gravity pull. Therefore, the shear strength in rocks allows shear wave which is found in S wave to move through them.

How does carbon dioxide in the atmosphere relate to global temperatures? Carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere have no effect on global temperatures. Increased carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere cause global temperatures to rise. The effect carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere have on global temperatures depends on location. Increased carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere cause global temperatures to fall.

Answers

The answer is B:Increased carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere cause global temperatures to rise.

This is because carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and so it absorbs heat from the sun.

Increased carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere cause global temperatures to rise.

Carbon dioxide relates to global temperatures

Carbon dioxide exists as one of the greenhouse gas and exists liable for the growth in temperature all over the world. CO₂ catches the heat energy and re-radiates some energy towards the earth thereby raising the temperature of the Earth.

An expansion in temperature exists directly proportional to the growth in the quantity of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and recent years temperature exists expanded greatly due to the liberation of CO₂ in the environment by the burning of fossil fuels.

Due to this temperature growth, the glaciers of the earth are dissolving very fast raising the water level in the ocean day by day thereby raising the threat of a tsunami.

So carbon dioxide quantity in the environment instantly connects to the global temperature.

Therefore, the correct answer is option (b)

The general appearance of a place is its:

Answers

General Appearance - a court appearance by which a party submits to the jurisdiction of the court

The general appearance of the place is desert landscape.

A desert landscape is a distinct and unique ecosystem defined by its arid climate and sparse vegetation.

One of the most prominent features of a desert landscape is the vast expanse of open sky, which is often characterized by its clear, deep blue hue.

This is a result of the minimal atmospheric moisture content in desert regions, leading to a lack of clouds and a high degree of transparency.

The unobstructed view of the sky contributes to the striking visual aspect of desert landscapes.

Another defining characteristic of deserts is the limited presence of vegetation.

Desert plants have evolved to adapt to the harsh, arid conditions by developing specialized mechanisms for conserving water and thriving in the intense sunlight.

As a result, vegetation in deserts tends to be low-lying and spaced far apart.

Many desert plants have adapted to store water in their tissues, have small or no leaves to reduce water loss through transpiration, and some even have deep root systems to tap into underground water sources.

In addition to clear skies and sparse vegetation, desert landscapes often feature vast stretches of arid, sandy or rocky terrain.

Dunes, canyons, and rock formations may dominate the topography, adding to the stark beauty of the desert.

Despite the harsh conditions, desert landscapes hold a unique allure and provide valuable insights into the resilience of life in extreme environments.

Is this accurate? Somalia is 233 miles northeast of Ethiopia, while Salalah, Oman is 385 miles northwest from Yemen.

Answers

Somalia is 233 miles northeast of Ethiopia - False;

Salalah, Oman is 385 miles northwest from Yemen - False;

The distance between the two East African nations of Somalia and Ethiopia is actually 0 miles. The reason for that is that these two countries share a border, thus there is no distance between their territories, apart from the imaginary line that is the border.

Salalah, Oman is 384 miles away from Yemen, but it is not toward the northwest, instead it is toward the northeast. Oman as whole is located on the northeast of Yemen, thus Yemen comes to located southwest of Oman.

Final answer:

The distances and directions stated between Somalia, Ethiopia, and Salalah, Oman, and Yemen are oversimplified and somewhat inaccurate, highlighting the need for precise geographical understanding.

Explanation:

The question about the geographical relationship and distance between Somalia, Ethiopia, Salalah (Oman), and Yemen requires clarification. First, Somalia is not just 233 miles northeast of Ethiopia; Somalia shares a long border with Ethiopia, making their relationship more complex than simply point-to-point distance. Cities within each country can vary greatly in distance from each other. Additionally, the relationship between Salalah, Oman, and Yemen is not accurately defined by stating Salalah is 385 miles northwest from Yemen. In fact, Salalah is situated to the northeast of Yemen, across the Arabian Sea. This highlights the importance of understanding geographical locations and distances more precisely.

Lava at Earth’s surface or ______ below Earth’s surface cools and hardens to form mineral crystals.

Answers

The correct answer is - magma.

The molten rock coming from the mantle layer is called magma when it is deep into the ground, and lava when it manages to get lout on the surface. This molten rock, be it lava or magma, is the one responsible for the creation of mineral crystals. The crystals tend to have different shapes and sizes, and the reasons for that is the way of their formation. The lava cools of very quickly because the surface is much cooler, thus not giving enough time for larger crystals to form. The magma cools off much slower because it is hotter inside the crust, thus the crystals grow much larger as they have much more time to do so. Both the lava and the magma create igneous rocks.

There are three major compositional groups of igneous rocks, mafic, felsic, and intermediate.

Mafic

The mafic igneous rocks are rich in magnesium and iron, making them a portmaneau of magnesium and ferric. They tend to be with dark coloration, with biotite and olivine being one of those rocks.

Felsic

The feslic igneous rocks are rich in elements that are forming the feldspar and quartz. Their coloration is lighter, and they come in numerous colors, with the granite and quartz being one of them.

Intermediate

The intermediate igneous rocks are in a way transitional rocks between the mafic and the felsic ones. They have a mixture of both mafic and felsic minerlas. Their coloration varies, and the andesite and dacite are some of them.

Final answer:

Igneous rocks are grouped into basaltic (rich in iron and magnesium), andesitic (a mix of basaltic and granitic), and granitic (rich in silicon and aluminum) based on their composition and where they are found.

Explanation:

The three major compositional groups of igneous rocks are basaltic, andesitic, and granitic. Basaltic, also known as mafic, are rich in iron and magnesium, and make up the oceanic crust. Their color ranges from black to dark gray. Andesitic rocks, also known as intermediate, are a mix of basaltic and granitic rocks that commonly exist in volcanic island arcs, where the oceanic crust is being subducted beneath a second oceanic plate. Granitic, also known as felsic, rocks are rich in silicon and aluminum elements, and form the continental crust. Their colors range from pink to light gray.

What is Ellipse?

A closed-plane curve known as an ellipse is produced when a plane intersects a cone. It's an oval, to put it another way. Though it's a shape you can find anywhere, you'll most likely hear this word in geometry class. A closed curve that never reached a circle is known as an ellipse.

Astrophysics and astronomy refer to an oval-shaped celestial body's route as having an "elliptical orbit." This kind of orbit is what the Earth and all the other planets in the Solar System have around the Sun.
