what is the holy grail to anakin skywalker (star wars), Merida (brave), holden caulfield (catcher in the rye), juliet (shakesphere's charecter) and harry potter (harry potter)

Answers

Answer 1
1. I am definitely sure that the Holy Grail for Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars is to have the ultimate power. That’s why he chooses the Siths’ side. According to his words: "I will even learn to stop people from dying", he thinks that the power of the Siths’ lords will give him an ability to cheat death. The Emperor promised him to give Anakin this power.
2. In my view the Holy Grail for Merida from Pixar’s “Brave” is freedom. She is quite selfish and she doesn’t want to depend on her mother. She just wants to wander through the forests and do what she wants to do. Anyway she changes throughout the film. But I think that her dream is to be independent.
3. As far as I remember, the Holy Grail to Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye is to find peace and a place to belong. But his Holy Grail is more metaphorical than actual. Unfortunately he doesn’t find a place to belong.
4. I think that the Holy Grail to Juliet from Shakespeare’s poem is obviously love. She wanted to bond with her love Romeo. She has many obstacles to build relationship with him but her goal is to find peace with him.
5. If my memory serves me well, the Holy Grail to Harry Potter from the Rowling’s seven-book series is to save the magical world. He was the main target of Voldemort and he was ready to prey his life to kill Voldemort if it will save people he loves.

Which excerpt from The Awakening best reveals that Mr. Pontellier has no awareness of his wife’s true thoughts or activities?

Answers

I think he was not dreaming of scandal when he uttered this warning; that was a thing which would never have entered into his mind to consider in connection with his wife's name or his own.
Final answer:

The given excerpt from The Awakening illustrates Mr. Pontellier's lack of insight into his wife Edna's internal world, revealing his unawareness of her true thoughts or activities.

Explanation:

The excerpt from The Awakening that best reveals Mr. Pontellier's lack of awareness of his wife Edna’s true thoughts or activities is:

"At all the seasons which should have been their happiest, he invariably and without intending it, nay, in spite of a purpose to the contrary, reverted to this one disastrous topic. Trifling as it at first appeared, it so connected itself with innumerable trains of thought and modes of feeling that it became the central point of all. With the morning twilight Aylmer opened his eyes upon his wife's face and recognized the symbol of imperfection; and when they sat together at the evening hearth his eyes wandered stealthily to her cheek, and beheld, flickering with the blaze of the wood fire, the spectral hand that wrote mortality where he would fain have worshipped. Georgiana soon learned to shudder at his gaze. It needed but a glance with the peculiar expression that his face often wore to change the roses of her cheek into a deathlike paleness, amid which the crimson hand was brought strongly out, like a bass-relief of ruby on the whitest marble."

This passage highlights Mr. Pontellier's inability to see his wife Edna as a complete individual beyond his own projections and concerns, illustrating his obliviousness to her internal struggles and desire for independence.

A. Most people pay their taxes.

B. Anyone who doesn't should be aware of the consequences they face.

C. Both sentences are correct.

Answers

Final answer:

Both sentences, 'Most people pay their taxes.' and 'Anyone who doesn't should be aware of the consequences they face.' are grammatically correct. The discussion on taxes involves fairness and the role taxes play in funding government services, with people facing consequences for non-compliance.

Explanation:

Concerning the student's question about correct agreement in the given sentences, both sentences are indeed correct in terms of subject-verb agreement and grammatical structure. Therefore, the sentences:

Most people pay their taxes.

Anyone who doesn't should be aware of the consequences they face.

should be considered accurate as standalone statements. Taxes are a critical component of how a government functions, as they serve to fund various government services and programs. However, it's important to note the ongoing debate about what constitutes a fair tax system, with discussions often focusing on the proportion of income paid in taxes, tax loopholes, the ability to pay principle, and the benefit principle of taxation. Ensuring that people understand the potential consequences of not paying taxes, such as fines or imprisonment, is a part of this larger conversation on tax fairness and compliance.

What was Shakespeare's purpose for the Tempest?

Answers

Shakespeare's play (Tempest) is his first folio as a comedy
Final answer:

Shakespeare's The Tempest served to engage audiences with themes of power, history, and human response to adversity, while offering a complex exploration of human conditions. The play pushed the audience out of complacency through its rich narrative and poetic language, providing timeless, relatable experiences.

Explanation:

William Shakespeare's The Tempest is a complex play that explores many themes including the pain of the past, the transfer of power, and the capacity for individuals to act in both heroic and tragic ways. The purpose behind Shakespeare's works, such as this one, was not only to address the existential queries and convey the absurdity of life but also to provide a narrative that pushed the audience out of their complacency. Especially during a time when the theatre served as a central cultural hub and playwrights like Shakespeare were able to express complex human conditions through poetic language and intricate storytelling.

In the context of The Tempest, Shakespeare allows the audience to experience a wide range of emotions and challenges through the characters of Prospero, Ariel, and Caliban. For instance, through the character of Prospero, Shakespeare delves into themes of forgiveness and vengeance, while the character of Caliban represents the struggle against colonial power and the fight for his own autonomy. These themes resonate on various levels with the audience and also have been used in modern settings such as Prison Theatre programs to help explore social and personal issues.

In essence, Shakespeare's plays offer a rich tapestry of experiences, making profound impressions on audiences and providing actors and directors with endless artistic possibilities to interpret and perform his works, given the timeless and universal nature of the themes he explores.

Mythological gods often have human-like qualities and exist in realms mirroring human societies, with Asgard in Norse mythology similar to Earth. The mythological themes of creation, destruction, and the intertwining of divine and mortal affairs reflect the human quest for cosmic understanding.

The gods in various mythologies are often portrayed with human-like qualities and emotions, engaging in conflicts and forming complex relationships, similar to the way humans interact. Asgard, in Norse mythology, can be compared to Earth because it is the dwelling place of the gods, akin to how Earth is home to humanity. Asgard and Earth both serve as central places where essential events unfold, and from which the inhabitants influence the cosmos. Mythological stories frequently include a mix of divine and human elements, with gods living in realms that parallel human societies.

In Norse mythology, Asgard is connected to the Earth by the rainbow bridge, Bifrost, symbolizing a link between the divine and the mortal. This reflects a universal theme where gods are seen as ruling from a place that mirrors the structure and order of human civilization, yet with supernatural elements. For example, both the Eddas and Greek mythology describe cycles of creation and destruction, earth forming from chaos, and the existence of a cosmic tree or entity that spans the world.

Similarly, in these mythologies, tales of a great flood, the recurring emergence and destruction of the world, and battles for control, intertwine the acts of gods with human experiences. These narratives emphasize the relationship between the divine and the mortal, the celestial and the earthly, revealing a fundamental aspect of the human condition: the search for meaning within the cosmos.

Consistently devoting time to studying and completing assignments, even when it may not be immediately enjoyable or convenient, is a key factor in academic success. Final answer:

The most important item to include in an essay about the history of the mail system would be a timeline of the developments in modern mail service. This provides a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of the mail system.

Explanation:

In an essay about the history of the mail system, the most important item likely to be included is a timeline of the developments in modern mail service. This is because a timeline can provide a comprehensive overview of how the mail system has evolved through the years. While a story of a lost letter finally being delivered can be engaging and a picture of a postal carrier can be illustrative, they don't provide the full scope of the mail system's progression. Similarly, a sidebar on the history of the envelope could be an interesting factoid but might not significantly contribute to understanding the overall development of the mail system.

The correct answer is based on the principle of independent assortment of chromosomes.

During meiosis, homologous chromosome pairs separate independently from one another. Each homologous pair can segregate in two ways: either the maternal chromosome goes to one gamete and the paternal chromosome goes to the other gamete, or vice versa. This means that each homologous pair of chromosomes has 2 possible orientations during the first meiotic division.

For example:

1 pair of homologous chromosomes = 2 possible orientations

2 pairs of homologous chromosomes = 2 x 2 = 2^2 or 4 possible orientations

3 pairs of homologous chromosomes = 2 x 2 x 2 = 2^3 or 8 possible orientations

... and so on.

So for \(n\) homologous chromosome pairs, there are 2^n possible orientations or arrangements of chromosomes.

Therefore, the correct answer is:

C. 2^n, where n represents the number of homologous chromosome pairs per cell entering meiosis.

Forman 1911 THE MATCH There never was a time when the world was without fire, but there was a time when men did not know how to kindle fire; and after they learned how to kindle one, it was a long, long time before they learned how to kindle one easily. In these days we can kindle a fire without any trouble, because we can easily get a match; but we must remember that the match is one of the most wonderful things in the world, and that it took men thousands of years to learn how to make one. Let us learn the history of this familiar little object, the match. Fire was first given to man by nature itself. When a forest is set on fire by cinders from a neighboring volcano, or when a tree is set ablaze by a thunderbolt, we may say that nature strikes a match. In the early history of the world, nature had to kindle all the fires, for man by his own effort was unable to produce a spark. The first method, then, of getting fire for use was to light sticks of wood at a flame kindled by natureby a volcano, perhaps, or by a stroke of lightning. These firebrands were carried to the home and used in kindling the fires there. The fire secured in this way was carefully guarded and was kept burning as long as possible. But the flame, however faithfully watched, would sometimes be extinguished. A sudden gust of wind or a sudden shower would put it out. Then a new firebrand would have to be secured, and this often meant a long journey and a deal of trouble. In 1827, John Walker, a druggist in a small English town, tipped a splint with sulphur, chlorate of potash, and sulphid of antimony, and rubbed it on sandpaper, and it burst into flame. The druggist had discovered the first friction-chemical match, the kind we use to-day. It is called friction-chemical because it is made by mixing certain chemicals together and rubbing them. Although Walker's match did not require the bottle of acid, nevertheless it was not a good one. It could be lighted only by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions. In a few years, however, phosphorus was substituted on the tip for antimony, and the change worked wonders. The match could now be lighted with very little rubbing, and it was no longer necessary to have sandpaper upon which to rub it. It would ignite when rubbed on any dry surface, and there was no longer any sputtering. This was the phosphorus match, the match with which we are so familiar. What issue made a match, or other device for starting a fire, necessary? Burning material was hard to find. Fire was hard to transport. Nature was unreliable. Wind storms were frequent.
