Answer:
The quotations that best explain how events in the story develop the theme "do not be too quick to judge, or you may be judged yourself" are "Next morning the seven piglets were returned one by one by various native children….Glad to recover the squealing little wanderers at any cost, I gave each lying child a quarter-dollar." and "His [the pig] back was turned, but hearing my steps he 'went about' and faced me. 'Twas a bright moonlight night, and the bullet plugged him fair between the eyes."
Explanation:
The first quotation shows how the children thought they could cheat and make the pig owner look like stupid when they returned the piglets but at the end, they were the ones who were judged since he knew the truth. In the second quotation also shows how when you expect that others have the same reaction as you, you might be really affected since it is not going to be like that.

Dr. Trisha Keller, Manatee Veterinarian
by Rick Santos, for the Highland School News
1 Rick: Dr. Keller, would you please tell us where you work?
Dr. Keller: I work at a manatee rescue center in Florida, where our goal is to nurse injured or sick manatees back to health and return them to the wild. Before we do this, we insert a tracking device into each manatee, so we can monitor it. This enables us to ensure that the manatee remains healthy and is doing okay on its own.
2 Rick: What is it like at the manatee rescue center?
Dr. Keller: The manatee rescue center is an incredible place that was designed especially for manatees. It has several treatment pools where we place injured or sick manatees, so we can easily access them. The center also has a large-animal x-ray machine and an operating room. The rescue center also has a cafeteria for the employees with cool manatee artwork on the walls.
3 Rick: Are any of the manatees brought to the center cubs?
Dr. Keller: Yes, the center treats many orphaned cubs. We initially feed them using a bottle until they are old enough to eat solid food. Then we feed them Romaine lettuce and other vegetation.
4 Rick: What can people do to help manatees in the wild?
Dr. Keller: People in boats should travel very slowly. If they fish, they should be sure to remove discarded fishing line from the water. They should not pollute the water or feed manatees. If they see an injured or a sick manatee, they should call the center right away.
5 Rick: What advice do you have for someone who wants to become a manatee veterinarian?
Dr. Keller: Take many science courses in school and spend time volunteering at a manatee rescue center.
Florida's Sea Cows
6 Manatees are slow moving creatures and have a large, round body, which can weigh as much as 1,200 pounds. The manatees in Florida are gray and have two forelimbs called flippers, which they use to paddle through the water along with their tail. Their head and face are wrinkled like a raisin, and they have whiskers on their snout. While a manatee won't win a beauty contest, it is a harmless creature that spends its time swimming slowly, sleeping, and chomping on sea grass, the mainstay of its diet.
7 These gentle giants are in danger of extinction, which means they might not be around in the future. In Florida alone, there were 392 manatee mortalities in 2012. Manatees have no known predators. However, they frequently collide with boats. They must not be very bright! Manatees stay near the surface of water because they must come out of the water to breathe. A manatee may come up to breathe every few minutes. This puts the manatee in danger if a fast-moving boat approaches it. The manatee may not be able to swim fast enough to escape.

Question 8 (1 point)
Which sentence would serve as the most effective topic sentence for section 6?
Question 8 options:
A. The manatee is an animal with a unique lifestyle, habitat, and diet.
B. Manatees are peaceful creatures that have interesting snouts with whiskers.
C. As manatees become more endangered, it is helpful to be able to recognize them.
D. With a docile nature, manatees are often called sea cows because of their appearance.
Answer:
D. describes manatees as Sea cows
Answer:
The best option is letter D. With a docile nature, manatees are often called sea cows because of their appearance.
Explanation:
A topic sentence is supposed to inform readers on what the paragraph is about. It lets readers know where the author is going and how they are getting there in terms of the idea being developed. The sentences that come after the topic sentence function as its support, as evidence to defend the topic.
The best topic sentence for section 6 would be "With a docile nature, manatees are often called sea cows because of their appearance." The paragraph in section 6 corroborates the information stated in this topic sentence. The sentences describe what the manatees look like; how much they weigh; how peacefully they spend their days moving slowly, eating (sea) grass - just like a cow. Thus, the sentences in section 6 function as evidence that would support the claim that manatees are docile and that they look like cows.

Answer: C. To all managers: Please remind team members to bring their laptops to the meeting.
Explanation: To remove gender bias you use they or their etc. instead of he or she
Answer:
To all managers: Please remind team members to bring their laptops to the meeting.
Explanation:
The gender bias in the phrase "To all mangers please remind each employ to bring his laptop." is established by the pronoun "his". This pronoun implies that only the men in the team need to be reminded to take the laptops and this creates a gender bias because it excludes women from the team.
To remove the gender bias, simply replace the pronoun "his" with a pronoun that is "neutral", that is, a pronoun that refers to both the men and women in the team. This pronoun is the "their"

How does Dr. King use figurative language to support his feelings about equal civil rights for African-Americans?
Dr. King uses metaphors and imagery to express his feelings about equal civil rights for African-Americans.
Explanation:Dr. King uses figurative language to support his feelings about equal civil rights for African-Americans by employing various rhetorical devices, such as metaphors and imagery. For example, in his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, he states, "America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked 'insufficient funds.'" This metaphor of a bad check highlights the injustice and inequality faced by African-Americans in America. Additionally, Dr. King uses vivid imagery when he says, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." This imagery emphasizes his vision of a future where racial equality exists. These figurative language techniques effectively support Dr. King's passion for equal civil rights for African-Americans.

The sheep partake in a chant that they do not actually agree with about two legs being better.
The sheep, after years of inaction, decide to take a stand about two legs being better than four.

Now look carefully at those same lines: If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, The word bear is not necessary. The lines would still make sense if they read: If you can hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Why do you think the poet specifically included the word bear in the line
A: The poet wants to inspire the reader, and cause him to think that he will be able to change the world.
B: The poet wants to soothe the reader, and convince him that it will be easy to follow his advice.
C: The poet wants to emphasize that the person who follows his advice must have great strength of character.
D: The poet wants to challenge the reader, and is daring the reader to follow his advice.
Answer:

I wonder what you think the answer is? It would be interesting to find that out. Poetry is the exercise of precise language.
Bear adds the extra dimension of personally being able to stand the truth, particularly when when knaves have used that truth to trap fools. Can you take it when you know that?
I don't think these lines lead you to conclude A is the Answer. This had to do with hearing the truth. Just hearing it is going to be hard enough, never mind acting on it.
The poet is not trying to soothe the reader. He's trying to say that the truth has been twisted, and just hearing it is going to be a chore.

What is the purpose of this student essay?
A.
The essay’s purpose is to describe to the audience the different sides of Victor Frankenstein and his monster.
B.
The essay’s purpose is to inform the audience of the good and bad characteristics of the monster.
C.
The essay’s purpose is to persuade the audience that Frankenstein is the real monster for abandoning his creation.
D.
The essay’s purpose is to entertain the audience with the gripping tale of the mad scientist Victor Frankenstein.
The correct option is C. The essay purpose is to persuade the audience that Frankenstein is the real monster for abandoning his creation.
To determine the purpose of the student essay, one must analyze the given options and the content they imply about the essay. The options suggest different rhetorical purposes such as description, information, persuasion, and entertainment.
Option A suggests that the essay describes both Victor Frankenstein and his monster, which could be a valid purpose for an essay. However, it does not specify any particular argument or stance that the essay might be taking.
Option B indicates that the essay informs the audience about the monster's characteristics, both positive and negative. This is also a plausible purpose, but it does not necessarily convey the depth of analysis that might be present in an essay with a more specific thesis.
Option C posits that the essay's purpose is to persuade the audience of a particular viewpoint, namely that Victor Frankenstein is the real monster because he abandoned his creation. This option implies a clear argumentative stance, suggesting that the essay is not merely descriptive or informative but is advocating for a specific interpretation of the characters and their actions.
Option D proposes that the essay aims to entertain the audience with the story of Victor Frankenstein. While the tale of Frankenstein is indeed gripping, an academic essay typically goes beyond mere entertainment to analyze, argue, or explain its subject matter.
Given the persuasive nature of Option C, which aligns with the critical approach often expected in student essays, it is the most likely purpose of the essay in question. The essay likely argues that Victor Frankenstein's decision to abandon his creation is a monstrous act, thereby framing him as the true monster in the narrative, rather than his creation. This aligns with a common theme in discussions of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, which often explore the ethical responsibilities of creators to their creations.

Answer:
The answer is 2 and 3
Explanation:
2.Little lamb, who made thee? / Does thou know who made thee?
3.Tyger! Tyger! burning bright / In the forests of the night,
The correct answers are option number 2 and option number 4. The songlike nature of “The Lamb” and “The Tyger” is enhanced by the refrain of these lines: “Little lamb, who made thee? / Does thou know who made thee?” and “Did he who made the Lamb make thee? / Tyger! Tyger! burning bright”. The theme in both poems by William Blake (“The Lamb” and “The Tyger”) is creation and origin. The rhetorical questions used throughout the poems show the narrator’s perplexity about the nature of God. In fact, in the poem “The Tyger”, the narrator questions how the same God could create such a gentle creature as the lamb and also a terrifying creature as the tiger (“Did he who made the Lamb make thee?”).
