___________________ refers to Florida State's strict penalties for drivers under the age of 21 who have a BAC of .02 or higher.

Answers

This question is already been asked on this site and it was a multiple choice question for them and the answer people put was zero tolerance but if I had to answer it without it being a mutiple choice question I'd say the answer is Florida Statute 322.2626 (1)(a)

The correct answer is B) zero tolerance.

Zero tolerance refers to Florida State's strict penalties for drivers under the age of 21 who have a BAC of .02 or higher.

The term "zero tolerance" means that by no means there are other alternatives regarding drinking and driving. No chances or options for the infractor. That is zero tolerance.

Do not drink and drive. It's against the law. And the consequences of driving under influence can be fatal, you risk your life and penalties are so harsh.

The other options of the question are A) D.A.R.E. C) No sympathy, and D) Sober standard.

Write an essay in which you analyze the importance of plot events and characters’ actions to the development of a story’s theme. Review and evaluate a
story from the unit that has a clearly identifiable theme. You might choose “The Tell Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe, “The Story-Teller” by Saki, “The Finish of Patsy Barnes” by Paul Laurence Dunbar, or “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh” by Ray Bradbury. Be sure to identify the story and write a clear statement of its theme. In your essay, answer the following question: How do various elements of the story—conflict and resolution, characters’ dialogue and behavior—contribute to the story’s theme? Support your ideas with references to the text.

Answers

Find the:

Main characters dialogue and thoughts
And how the dialogue and thoughts bias the characters behavior.
I've only read a little of the story but you should be able to describe the mans thoughts and actions to understand his behavior.
For example, in the end, the man tells the police that he killed the old man.
What in the story reflects his behavior?
The way he hears the heart?
The way he says that he loves the old man and its only because of his eye?
Use these and other events to develop how the characters behavior comntributes to the story's name.
Lastly, use everything you found to come up with the theme.
Finally, put in order asked and in paragraph form.

Answer and explanation:

When it comes to literature, theme can be defined as the message behind the literary work, the idea or meaning the author wishes to convey, be it in a direct or in an indirect way. In narratives, the theme is developed through plot events, which are everything that takes place between the introduction and resolution of the conflicts presented. The characters’ actions, thoughts, and dialogs contribute to advance the plot and support the theme. They are the means through which the author will pass his message on to readers.

Let’s briefly analyze the short story “The Story-Teller”, by Saki. The theme is a criticism to the way adults try and teach children about the importance of being good and well-behaved. To develop such theme, the author chooses a very specific group of characters: an uptight aunt, her uproarious nephew and nieces, and a sarcastic bachelor. The characters are placed in a train wagon, where the sense of confinement makes the children bored, the aunt nervous, and the bachelor annoyed. Such environment, combined with their personalities, generates the perfect conditions for the conflict to begin.

Since the children won’t sit quiet, their aunt decides to tell them a story about a well-behaved girl who was saved by the adults who very much admired her goodness and obedience from being killed. As we can see, the aunt’s action and words very much set the cornerstone for the theme. They provide the necessary fuel for the author to begin his burning criticism of the purpose of children’s story that have a moral lesson. The children’s actions and words develop the theme even further when they choose not to accept such lesson. They question their aunt:

“Wouldn’t they have saved her if she hadn’t been good?” demanded the bigger of the small girls. It was exactly the question that the bachelor had wanted to ask.

The author provides us with a bit of insight as to what the bachelor is thinking. Now readers already know the bachelor and the kids think in a similar way, since they fail to see how the fact of being good is the reason why the girl is saved.

It is funny to notice that the aunt is portrayed as an innocent adult in this context. Even though she has a noble purpose – she wants the kids to learn how to behave with propriety in social situations -, she uses a most deplorable method to achieve it. Her own mind is more naïve than the children’s as she believes a mere story will be enough to show them what life is all about.

The bachelor, on the other hand, is the character that best develops the theme. He decides to tell the children his own story. It is about a girl who ended up devoured by a wolf as a result of her good behavior. As it turns out, the children love the story. The bachelor serves the purpose of criticizing the aunt’s perspective in life as well as her approach to teaching it. He conveys the idea that goodness isn’t everything in life, that being too good will only harm you. His story also shows that children are much more interested in a more truthful approach instead of an idealistic one, since they love his tale.

In short, after analyzing this story, we can note how the characters, their actions, words, and thoughts serve as a means to develop the theme. It is through them that the author conveys his message. The events and conflicts are the base on which their decisions are built.

I'd say that the one of the commas are not needed in the sentence, and that there is no period towards the end of the sentence.

But I may be wrong, since I haven't learned too much of nonresective or nonessential phrases.

The phrase is non-restrictive or not essential because speaking the younger sibling's name is irrelevant so that the reader understands the message that the phrase wants to pass. You see, when the speaker of the phrase speaks "My younger brother," the reader already knows whom the speaker is referring to, it is not necessary to speak the name of the speaker's brother.

A forest was completely destroyed by a volcanic eruption. All living organisms were killed. Then, due to the arrival of propagules carried by birds from nearby areas, certain plant species started growing in the forest. These species have started colonizing the forest because they could survive the harsh conditions of the forest. They also facilitated the growth of other species. What stage of succession is taking place in the forest?

Answers

Answer:

The stage of succession that is taking place in the forest is ecesis

Explanation:

Ecesis is a process in which plants or animals adjust themselves not only to survive to the new environment but to grow in this new habitat and to enable the future life and adjustment of new species, this also includes more specifically for plants the ones that were transported by different natural ways to that area.

Final answer:

The stage of succession taking place in the forest is secondary succession, where certain plant species colonize the forest after it was completely destroyed by a volcanic eruption.

Explanation:

The stage of succession that is taking place in the forest is secondary succession.

This occurs in a formerly inhabited area that was disturbed, such as by a fire or flood. In this case, the forest was completely destroyed by a volcanic eruption, which is a type of disturbance. After the disturbance, certain plant species called pioneer species started growing in the forest. These species are able to survive the harsh conditions and also facilitate the growth of other species, leading to the gradual recolonization of the forest.

Secondary succession is faster compared to primary succession because the soil is already in place. It involves the sequential appearance and disappearance of species in a community over time, ultimately leading to the establishment of a stable climax community.

The use of thoughtful and emotionally charged language, as well as calls to action, are persuasive techniques designed to resonate with audiences and are still employed by modern public speakers. "Select weighted words that reveal either the author or a character's POV? What do they mean by " Weighted Words??

Answers

Final answer:

Weighted words are chosen for their strong connotation to reveal an author's or character's POV. They are significant and emotionally charged, influencing reader perception and often indicating underlying attitudes or feelings.

Explanation:

When the question asks you to select weighted words that reveal either the author or a character's point of view (POV), it refers to choosing words that have a strong connotation or emotional charge, which can influence the reader's perception and understanding of a narrative. Weighted words are those that carry significant meaning beyond their literal definition, often used to hint at the author's or a character's attitudes, opinions, or feelings about a subject. For example, describing a building as 'dilapidated' instead of 'old' connotes a sense of neglect and decay, which may indicate a negative viewpoint toward the subject in question.

To identify weighted words, look for adjectives, verbs, or even nouns that seem to have a particular strength or bias, as these can subtly convey underlying messages or perspectives. An author might use weighted words strategically to evoke certain emotions in the reader or to shape their understanding of a character or situation.
